Here you will find lots of information about our school: School Term Dates, Uniform, Pupil Absence, ParentMail, Earwig, Adverse Weather Information
School Term Dates
We encourage pupils to wear school sweatshirts and polo shirts with the logo on. These can be ordered directly from the School. We do not generally keep a stock of uniform, but it does arrive within about 5 working days from order.
Trousers and skirts should be black or grey, shirts should be white, dark blue or light blue.
Pupils are encouraged to change for PE wherever possible. Shorts, tracksuits, t-shirts and trainers should be worn. Swimsuits should be provided for swimming.

Absence due to illness
Can I please remind all parents and carers that if your child is absent from School due to illness you should telephone or email the office before 10am on the first day with a reason for absence.
Absence due to circumstances other than illness
I am sure you will be aware of the recent changes in Government Legislation regarding Pupil Leave of Absence. The 2013 Amendments to the Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006 explain clearly that Headteachers may not grant leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Headteachers should also determine the number of school days a child can be away from school if leave is granted. It is possible that in some cases of unauthorised absence, Penalty Notices may be issued.
Due to the particular needs of our children, it is likely – but not to be expected – that I will authorise pupil absences for family holidays. However, to conform with Government requirements, I need to be satisfied that the child’s attendance during the school year is satisfactory before leave is granted.
If you wish to apply for authorised absence for your child for any reason and for any duration, please contact the office who will issue you with a form to complete and return for authorisation. A copy can also be downloaded using the Leave of Absence Form - Parents.doc. The request should be made at least two weeks prior to the date of absence.
More information regarding the new Legislation and how it may affect you can be found on the Northumberland County Council website www.northumberland.gov.uk
Most of our school communication is via Parentmail. Please contact the School Office to sign up, or if you are experiencing any problems using Parentmail.
Sign up to Earwig to see photos and videos of your child's day at school. You can even purchase photographs, with proceeds going to the school funds.
During periods of severe weather there may be School closures or disruption to your child's Home to School Transport. In any instance where we need to close the School, you will be advised:
- through ParentMail - urgent texts and emails will be sent
- through Local Radio Stations - mainly BBC Newcastle and Metro Radio
- through the Northumberland County Council website : www.northumberland.gov.uk
In extreme cases, due to severe weather, we may have to take the decision to close the School part-way through the day. ParentMail is our most effective way of contacting you in this case.
If you are not registered for ParentMail, please contact the office - 01665 602541.
